The artist

Christalyn Brooks is an American contemporary artist, educator, author, and entrepreneur based in Southern California. Her artistic practice embraces unconventional techniques, combining fire, movement, emotion, and experimentation to challenge traditional forms of artistic expression.

Her signature practice, Spirit Fired, uses inks, dyes, alcohol, and open flame to create expressive, unpredictable compositions. Working with spirits ranging from vodka and moonshine to wine and champagne, Christalyn fires selected pieces by hand, allowing fire to become both a tool and a collaborator in her storytelling.

Her multidisciplinary work spans abstract art, figurative studies, photography, mixed media, and equine-inspired collections. Incorporating unconventional materials, mannequins, and misunderstood subjects, her work explores individuality, transformation, and beauty in imperfection.

With over 15 years of experience working alongside the equine industry, her connection to horses and the natural world continues to influence her evolving collections, exploring movement, strength, vulnerability, and the relationship between humanity and nature.

Beyond the studio

Beyond the studio, her career encompasses education, authorship, entrepreneurship, and creative development. Her academic background includes collegiate studies in psychology, theology, and creative disciplines, including theological coursework. These studies continue to inform her exploration of human behavior, spirituality, and artistic expression.

Christalyn’s work has been exhibited throughout California and internationally, including Spain, Rome, Florence, and Milan. Her travels across Central America, Europe, Israel, the Hawaiian Islands, and the United States have further shaped her understanding of what a loving Father we have.

Through her work, Christalyn seeks to create more than something to be seen. She hopes to create something to be felt.
